Denture relines are very important to preserve the fit and performance of your denture, commonly every 2 to 3 years and 3 to 6 months if you have had recent tooth extractions. With time, your jawbone changes shape but yuor dentures remain the same therefore a reline may be required. A reline redesigns the surface area of the denture to increase retention and comfort. It’s very likely time to make an appointment for a reline if your dentures are feeling unpleasant or problematic.
Denture relines are required for both partial dentures as well as full dentures.

What are Denture Relines?
A denture reline can serve to lengthen the life of your dentures and likewise aid in preserving comfort and your looks by reducing the extent the denture sinks downward or upwards. Your dental bone under your gums can reduce in height over time causing your dentures to loosen and can cause rubbing or ulcerations. A reline can help re-stabilise your denture and improve comfort. This can influence your eating, your speech, visual appeal and features.
Elsternwick Denture Clinic provide an efficient denture reline program, providing a hard base reline, chairside reline, permanent soft liner reline or a non permanent gel reline.
What is the length of time will it take to reline my dentures?
Chair side relines are done whilst you sit in the dental chair and take approx 1 hr and is easily the most cost-effective course of action. A hard base reline typically takes 2 to 3 hours and a permanent soft reline takes about two days to finalize. We can place a temporary gel liner for those experiencing discomfort after recent extractions.
Our staff can apply a short term clear gel reline for those that have already had their teeth taken out and require that additional comfort in the very first couple of weeks just before their reline can be carried out whilst their gums are healing.
